As a child, I always had vivid dreams that often came true. But some of them left me feeling frightened and uneasy.
One of my earliest dreams was of being a general in armor standing on the city wall, feeling betrayed from within. Suddenly, I felt the searing pain of an arrow piercing through my chest, and woke up screaming. The pain lingered for days, leaving me traumatized.
As I grew older, my dreams became more ominous. One night, during a fever, I saw a pair of large, void eyes staring straight at me, leaving me feeling terrified.
During my middle school years, the pressure of studies led to even more intense dreams. In one such dream, I saw a boy carrying a school bag walking slowly on the other side of a line. Suddenly, a large serpent emerged from the ground and bit off the boy’s head, leaving me feeling deeply disturbed. Later that day, I found out that a boy had died in a car accident on that very same road.
In another dream, I saw a man standing on a low platform fall to the ground, with blood on the corners of his mouth. Later that day, I saw a man lying under a white cloth on the same platform.
These dreams continued to haunt me, and I often wondered if they were mere coincidences. But when my grandfather was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, I felt a foreboding sense of dread. On the night he passed away, I was doing my homework when I felt his presence calling out to me. I called my parents, but they refused to let me go to his house. The next morning, I found out that he had passed away that same night.
A few days after his passing, I felt someone enter my room in the middle of the night. I assumed it was my parents, but the next day they denied ever entering my room. I realized that it must have been my grandfather visiting me.
Another night, I saw a man wearing a hat with his face obscured. I felt strangely comforted by his presence, and he told me he was leaving. As he vanished before the crowing of the rooster, I realized that it was more than just a dream. My pillow was soaked with my tears, and I knew that he had truly left me.
As I reflect on these dreams, I cannot help but wonder if they were all premonitions or just mere coincidences. But the sense of unease and foreboding they left me with remains to this day. Perhaps there are some things that we are not meant to understand, and some dreams that are meant to remain shrouded in mystery.
