Shadowed by Darkness A Tale of Mysterious Disappearances and Possession

It was a dark and gloomy day in the countryside, the kind of day where the wind was howling and the leaves were rustling in a creepy way. The kind of day where anything could happen. And that’s exactly what happened to me and my friend Zhao.

I had just finished school and was on my way home, when I realized I had forgotten something in my classroom. I quickly retraced my steps back to the school, but as I climbed the stairs to the second floor, I saw something strange out of the corner of my eye. A dark shadow was hovering in the corner of the hallway, and as I approached, it started to float towards me. I froze in terror, not knowing what to do, but just as it was about to reach me, the lights flickered and went out.

I frantically stomped my feet, hoping the lights would come back on, and when they did, the shadow had vanished. I was too scared to stick around and quickly made my way to my classroom to retrieve what I had forgotten. As I left the school, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

The next day, I woke up with a fever and was taken to the hospital in town. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. It wasn’t until I heard about what happened to Zhao that everything started to make sense.

Zhao, my best friend, had disappeared one night, and his parents had assumed he was at a classmate’s house. But when he didn’t come back, they went out searching for him. It wasn’t until a group of villagers started to search for him using torches, gongs, and drums to ward off any evil spirits that they found him.

He was curled up under a shabby tricycle, muttering in a language no one understood. His parents brought him home, but he was never the same after that. He looked weak and fragile, and he never talked about what had happened to him.

Rumors started to circulate that he had been possessed by an evil spirit, that something had attached itself to him and drained him of his vitality. No one knew for sure, but it was clear that something had changed him.

One day, about a year later, Zhao and his parents suddenly moved away, leaving no forwarding address. It was as if they were running from something, and I never saw or heard from him again.
